With the goal of inspiring artistry and developing talent, RAPF provides piano students of all levels of advancement and ages professional evaluation of performance and technic.
Festival participants submit a video (or set of videos) between January 1-May 1. (No entries accepted May 2-December 31). The video(s) should include both Performance and Keyboard Theory and Technic categories:
1) Performance Category (3 compositions in contrasting style performed from memory -- see repertoire requirements under "rules" -- no minimum time limit, a maximum of 30 minutes of repertoire will be evaluated) 2) Keyboard Theory and Technic Category (choose appropriate Skills Set from KT&T representative of student's current skill needs).
The video is reviewed by professional adjudicators who provide an evaluation via written commentary and/or video, e-mailed approximately 4 weeks after entry submission is received. Entries may submitted between January 1-May 1. No entries accepted between May 2-December 31.
RAPF adjudicators are world-renowned pedagogues, concert pianists, and experts in ergonomic, healthy, virtuosic pianism. Entrant's assignment of adjudicator is determined by the RAPF chair.
All RAPF entrants receive an Award Certificate which will be emailed along with the adjudication results.
On May 30, three students will be selected from all the entrants to receive: 1) Grand Prize: Medallion, a performance opportunity in New York City (October or November) plus a $400 cash award used toward travel expenses to NYC. 2) 1st Alternate: Medallion, Skype Masterclass opportunity, date TBA, with one of the internationally renowned adjudicators. In the event the Grand Prize Winner can not perform in the New York City performance opportunity, the 1st Alternate Winner will be offered the chance to perform. 3) 2nd Alternate Winner: Medallion, Skype Masterclass opportunity. In the event both the Grand Prize and 1st Alternate Winner can not perform in the New York City performance opportunity, the 2nd Alternate Winner will be offered the chance to perform.
